AI is easing its way into many fields faster than ever before. Well… faster could for many mean unknow on top unknown and we always have to deal with fear f the unknown so the sooner the better and the truth is “ we need to know it” whether you are for or against it.
So I though to take a side passage from my usual Project & Agile management topic and briefly talk about AI and Generative AI. (AI= Simulation of human intelligence in machines to perform tasks; Gen. AI= A type of AI that results in new data and not only simulation)
I have been training and educating myself into the field of AI and Gen. AI for a while and let me tell you, it is easier to get the hang of than you might think!
It is all about efficiency (AI) and accuracy and accountability (Human). It can help project managers (and all other discipline managers and staff) to save costs, have a better risk management, increase stakeholder satisfaction, greater adaptation to changes, more accuracy in data-driven decisions. Yet all decisions are to be made by the human project manager at the end.
Due to many holistic scenario experience and emotional and other factors involved in projects, the project manager is the one who examines and evaluates the data provided by any give proper AI tool and in the desired format, to elicit a more realistic set of results for which he/she can be accountable for.
Nothing is perfect, so even when using the AI, you need to consider the following aspects along the way:
- Data quality and availability (based on which Gen. AI will give you certain results)
- AI mode selection and integration (how and which tool to use and embed)
- Ethics (mostly intellectual properties, ethical and humanly allowable espects)
- Security and privacy concerns ( not everything is to and for use and sharing in its raw form)
Above just a quick introduction into AI and Gen AI to hopefully take a away the unknow factor. To get you started try Chat GPT and type the command ( in the message box) and see what you get:
